First day of 2008: Time Square

Happy New Year everybody. I hope none of you guys have any nasty hangovers or waking up half dead. I guess everyone enjoyed themselves in their very own special ways. Nothing much happened today, except that we went to Times Square in the afternoon.

It was very much of a sudden decision for both of us. The traffic in KL in pretty light today (assuming everyone who partied last night were still sleeping) so it took us only a while to reach the place without any jams.

Honestly, it is my first time over to Time Square. At first sight, I was quite impressed with the place. Not only that it is huge, but the layout and the interior design is alright to look at.

The multi-leveled escalators

Starry-eyed surprise?

We bought two tickets for the AVP 2 at the IMAX theatre counter. While waiting for the theatre to open, we walked around the shopping mall. There were ten stories of shopping isles, but only the first 6 floors were packed.

It was quite disappointing to see a mall of such grandeur succumb to sub-standard clothing stores and brands.

Time Square Mall is home to the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia. The 3 storey roller-coaster track was quite an impressive sight. The arcade centre was so-so.

After the very long walk and before the movie, we stopped by over at "Kopi-tiam Station" (one of the old coffee shop style franchise) and ordered a Mango and Banana Ice Shave. To our dismay, what we ordered was very far from the thing that they gave us (a very big rip-off).

The very delicious mango ice shave, yes?

The very sub-standard dish served to us

An additional note about the place; poor management and lousy staff members. Imagine this, two of the workers were "distributing" fork, knives, spoons and serviettes on the floor! That is a big no-no for my standards. RM 6.50 for a half empty bowl of shave ice is pretty expensive.

AVP 2 started at 2.45 p.m. Yes, they hold the largest silver screen in Malaysia, but what they certainly lack in was the clarity of the movie shown. The movie wasn't sharp at all, almost like a cheap RM 6 DVDs purchased from a pasar malam. The sound system and acoustic however was really something. It certainly gave Amanda lots of fright. =)

Out of a credit rating of 5 I would only give TS 2 points. Although the place was big and spacious such as the Curve and Gardens, but the quality of the goods displayed and shops available were a let down. They really ruin a 5 star shopping mall. What really shocked me the most was the parking fees, RM 10! That's freaking day-light robbery.

Guess that's all about today. Laters!
